The Coalition for Fair Trade of Hardwood Plywood was formed to help protect thousands of American jobs because communist China’s illegal trade practices are harming the hardwood plywood industry. Here are the facts:
- Over the last two years, U.S. imports of hardwood plywood have increased by 35% – 40%, decimating the U.S. hardwood plywood industry and hurting American workers.
- Hardwood plywood products from China are being sold into the United States at “dumped prices” well below cost, and that is hurting American jobs.
- China is not playing by the rules, Chinese domestic producers of hardwood plywood products receive an array of illegal government subsidies such as discounted land, tax breaks and raw materials.
We must put America first, and we will not stand idly by as China threatens several thousand jobs in the U.S. hardwood plywood industry, not to mention the thousands of indirect jobs across the country.
On November 18, 2016, The Coalition for Fair Trade of Hardwood Plywood filed a petition with the U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC) and U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) to help save thousands of American jobs and stand up to China’s cheating. On December 30, 2016, the ITC ruled in our favor and launched an official investigation into China’s illegal trade practices. While we are excited with this outcome, this is just the beginning of a long process that we hope will lead to the Trump administration filing an official case with the World Trade Organization (WTO).
STAND UP FOR AMERICAN JOBS
China is cheating the US out of thousands of jobs by illegally subsidizing its hardwood plywood industry. Join us in our fight to put America first and combat China’s illegal trade practices. Sign the petition to make sure our voices are heard!
